Where the peat disappeared, water took its place, creating the beautiful lakes and ditches of today. Nowadays you can enjoy boating and swimming here. The area is characterized by varied flora and fauna and is excellent for water sports enthusiasts, fishermen and nature lovers. In the area you can enjoy beautiful cycling and walking routes, through nature, but also to nearby picturesque villages such as Giethoorn, Dwarsgracht and Blokzijl.
