Small-scale holiday park in IJhorst for peace seekers. An ideal holiday park for nature lovers.
An oasis of peace, eye-catching nature, old-fashioned cosiness, modern luxury and comfort; these words outline the ambiance of Landscape Park Striks Erve in IJhorst. You stay in cozy authentic old Dutch farms, but with the luxury and comfort needed for an ideal holiday. Some even have a sauna! Landscape park Striks Erve is located in the Reestdal, on the border between Drenthe and Overijssel. Around the border river Reest is an ancient brook valley with its own character. In this small-scale landscape there are hay meadows, fields, moors, forests, country estates and monumental farms. There are special plants and animals, including the cave root, badgers, deer and not to forget storks. There is much to do in the Reestdal! Beautiful cycling and walking routes, many exhibitions and events. But the environment also offers many beautiful things! A visit to Giethoorn, the Vecht valley and the pleasant city of Meppel is definitely worth a visit!

De Hooiberg' (The Haystack)
Striks Erve Landscape Park really is a park where those seeking peace and quiet and nature lovers feel at home. The holiday park is located in IJhorst, in the authentic Reest valley. The staff at the reception, called "de Hooiberg", will be happy to give you tips on how to get to know the beautiful surroundings. There is a small library at the reception.
Children
On holiday with children? Or are your grandchildren visiting you at Landschapspark Striks Erve? Children will be amazed by the beautiful, unspoilt nature. Run, fly and play in the woods or play football on the grass. Is your child a real explorer? They can examine the flora and fauna with a magnifying glass. There is a nice playground for small children at the reception "De Hooiberg". There is also a boules court (free of charge). Don't forget to take your balls with you?
Swimming
Water rats will enjoy themselves here. Natural pond 'De zwarte dennen' is particularly suitable for families with small children. The pond is surrounded by woodland, a lovely sandy beach, a sunbathing area, a playground and a kiosk with toilets. Are you here in winter? If you're lucky, the pond has been transformed into a large skating rink.

Location and surroundings
IJhorst is a village in the municipality of Staphorst, where the stork is a familiar sight. The Ooievaarscentrum De Lokkerij was established in 1981 on the initiative of the Nature Conservancy to bring the stork back to the Dutch landscape. With results: the number of breeding pairs is still increasing! De Lokkerij is open for visits during the summer months, definitely worth a visit. The surroundings are easy to explore by bike or on foot: you will discover the Reest valley, the Zwarte Dennen or the Staphorst forestry. Surrounding towns such as Zwolle, Meppel, Hoogeveen and Steenwijk are also recommended: here you can enjoy a terrace, a museum, the many shops or a cosy restaurant.
