De Kiel is a small village in Drenthe located on the Hondsrug route, bordering forestry Sleenerzand: a beautiful nature reserve where Highland cattle graze. All year round, this is an ideal area for people who love peace and quiet. There are beautiful cycling and walking routes in the immediate vicinity that are also well-maintained in winter. For a day out, visit Museum Village Orvelte, Memorial Centre Camp Westerbork or the dolmens in Borger. For adventurers, there is also plenty to do in the area: for instance, the Boomkroonpad is located metres above the ground and you can do endless climbing and clambering at the outdoor climbing park in Grolloo.
