There are also many possibilities for a day out: walk meters above the ground on the Boomkroonpad, admire ancient dolmens in Borger and immerse yourself in the sweeping history of camp Westerbork. Go shopping for a day in Emmen, Hoogeveen or Assen and visit a good restaurant in one of the characteristic surrounding villages Schoonoord, Exloo or Odoorn.

We had a nice week. The cottage was fine, although the park was still very bare, so the wind had free rein and we usually couldn't sit outside in the evenings. But otherwise it was fine, a beautiful area where you can enjoy cycling.

We thought it was absolutely wonderful; the beautiful lodge for 6 people was lovely with every amenity. A big plus was also the covered terrace and the shed for our bikes. We experienced the peace, privacy, and space as wonderful. The beautiful nature in this area, with the Ellert & Brammert Open Air Museum and the stunning village of Orvelte nearby, is truly a gem. We also visited Camp Westerbork, which was very impressive. All in all, we had a fantastic holiday at your very neat De Huynen estate, and we will certainly be back, because we are not yet finished exploring beautiful Drenthe.
