About five minutes' walk from the park is ’t Nije Hemelriekje, a swimming lake with a beach among the woods. Nearby are three national parks with beautiful nature. These are the Drents-Friese Wold, Drentsche Aa and Dwingelderveld. There are various cycling and walking routes in these national parks. If you are with children, the playground ‘t Drouwenerzand, Wildlands zoo and Slagharen amusement park are certainly worth a visit.
