Authentic 2-person holiday home with wood-burning stove and unobstructed view in Friesland

This detached holiday home is part of a Frisian farmhouse and accommodates two people. The house has been renovated and has retained much of its original character. Green beams, light walls, and a wooden floor give the interior a warm, tranquil feel. There is a wood-burning stove in the living room, and the large windows overlook the open polder. The bedroom is located on the ground floor, and the bathroom has a walk-in shower.

Outside, you will find a spacious, fairly open garden with a terrace, garden furniture, and a fire pit. Two bicycles are at your disposal, so you can head straight into the polder. A cot, high chair, and playpen are available for a young guest, and your dog is also welcome.

The surrounding area offers opportunities for canoeing, sailing, stand-up paddleboarding, and swimming. Lake Tjeukemeer and the River Tjonger are nearby, and fishing opportunities are also available in the vicinity. The harbor town of Lemmer and Heerenveen are easily accessible, as are the Weerribben and Rottige Meenthe nature reserves. Would you like to spend a day exploring culture? Then the Fries Museum in Leeuwarden and the Fries Scheepvaart Museum in Sneek are well worth a visit.

Good to know

Due to the thatched roof, barbecuing and open fires are not permitted around the house.

The fireplace is temporarily unavailable due to a bird's nest in the chimney.

Location and surroundings

Delfstrahuizen, Friesland
Delfstrahuizen is a village on the Tjeukemeer, a stone's throw from the cosy villages of Lemmer, Joure and Heerenveen. The Tjeukemeer offers many water sports possibilities, but a day of relaxing at the cosy sandy beach is definitely one of them. Of course, renting a boat and admiring the beautiful nature reserve from the water is also an option. And speaking of water: a day in beautiful Giethoorn is also highly recommended! The kids can also have a great time at the Ballorig play paradise in Heerenveen or AquaZoo in Leeuwarden. And for some extra culture, the Fries Museum in Leeuwarden and the Fries Scheepvaart Museum in Sneek should also be on your list.
