Location and surroundings
Boksum is a small Frisian village with a rich history. It probably originated a few hundred years before our era on the former Middelzee. The old Middelzee dyke is still a reference to this. There is a lot of beauty to see and experience in the surroundings of Boksum. Nearby Leeuwarden is the beating heart of the region, with a cosy city centre with canals and interesting museums. A little further away is Harlingen, the province's only seaport town. It is fun to walk along the harbour here or visit the city centre with canals, warehouses and squares.
