The sheepfold of Doldersum is nearby and here you can watch how the shepherds daily with the flock Schoonebeker heath sheep into the field. Do you fancy a day of water fun for young and old? Then visit Bosbad Appelscha (a heated outdoor pool in the middle of the forest) or the Canadameer (deep recreational swimming lake in the middle of the National Park Drents-Friese Wold. In Appelscha itself there is also plenty to do: there are markets, restaurants, cafes, Amusement Park Duinen Zathe and an outdoor theater that is definitely worth a visit.
